Before you begin:
We are looking for mature, patient, and reasonable staff who can follow directions and adapt to changes and criticism. The community is expected to be 16+. All staff must set an example for regular players and be familiar with the rules and resources to find answers. Staff are expected to put a minimum of 5 hours into the server per week. You may get pinged through Discord to respond to a situation in-game, if possible. If you do not have a Discord, you will need to make one. While it is not a requirement, it is highly preferred if you have a microphone and are willing to chat through Discord. For the sake of some situations, verbal clarity is faster and more efficient. Staff usually start at Mentor tier and may be promoted based on activity, knowledge, and community impact. Generally players must have 90 votes - 30 days of playing on the server - to apply for staff.

Copy the following, fill it out, and post your application.

Two users are arguing and getting heated about it, but haven't broken any rules. It's been over 20 minutes and they're still going at it, but still no rules have been broken. Many others in the chat have a problem with their arguing. How do you quiet the conflict?

Technical questions:

---Holding the gold shovel type /claim. This will give a 10x10 base area. Can expand it by typing /expandclaim # while looking in the direction you want to increase. Other option is to right click one corner then run to opposite corner and right click the ground again. Make sure you have the claim blocks necessary

You find a user x-raying and, after recording sufficient proof, go to confront the user. They swear up and down that they're not x-raying and beg you not to ban them. How do you handle the situation?
--- would consult with other staff to get their input and possibly tempban/Permban depending on the degree.

A staff member is arguing with a user - not enforcing rules, just a personal squabble. What do you do?
---if it's in global chat I would send a message through a pm to both candidates saying please stop arguing in global chat and to take it to pm, other players don't want to read your arguments while they are just trying to chat with other fellow players.

Someone wants to know what ranks we have on the server. What command can you tell them?
--- to see what ranks we have please use /ranks. To see how to achieve the rank after do /rankup

General play schedule: Currently it’s just off and on throughout the day, but once school starts i’ll probably mostly be on early morning and afternoon/late night

How old are players expected to be: 16 years or older

Why am I applying for staff:
I’m applying for staff because I truly enjoy helping people in any way I can. I’m currently running a town to help new players start off. And I do help people who need help with things like redstone machines and farming stuff. But I would like to do more for the server.

What do I think I could bring to the team:
Considering I have about 11 months of prior experience from being a staff member combined from two separate servers. I believe I’d be able to see ways to help other staff members that may be struggling. I also believe that I may be able to come up with some good ways to improve the functionality of the staff team in areas that may not be as firm as others.

A user is having issues claiming their base. How do you explain the claim method? If they fail to understand your explination, what resources can you direct them to?
I’d explain that they need to use a golden shovel and click the ground in one spot of the ground that they want to claim, then they need to go across diagonally and right click there with the shovel as well. Id make sure they are aware that more claimblocks are needed to claim larger areas, If their still struggling id direct them to the claim guide book and a video tutorial.

You find a user x-raying and, after recording sufficient proof, go to confront the user. They swear up and down that they're not x-raying and beg you not to ban them. How do you handle the situation?

I explain that I have found sufficient proof to show that they have infact xrayed. I'll then tell them that if they do feel that I have unfairly banned them that they may appeal on the forums and I will get to it as soon as I can and review it. After reviewing it I'll make my decision on wether to unban, reduce, or hold their ban.

A staff member is arguing with a user - not enforcing rules, just a personal squabble. What do you do?
I'd private message the staff member and let them know that they might want to take their arguing to DM's or Discord. But I wouldn't demand they do it. Id explain that it's not the best looking thing for a staff member to be arguing with a player in a public chat.

Someone wants to know what ranks we have on the server. What command can you tell them?
I can tell them to use /ranklist for the ranks you can earn through challenges and voting. And /Donate for all the bought ranks and a list of all their perks

Two users are arguing and getting heated about it, but haven't broken any rules. It's been over 20 minutes and they're still going at it, but still no rules have been broken. Many others in the chat have a problem with their arguing. How do you quiet the conflict?

I would verbally warn them both that they need to take their quarreling to either private messages or discord. If they continued to argue after that, or ignored me and continued I would private message them both to grab their attention. Should they still continue I'd /kick them with a message saying something like "Please keep arguements out of chat, keep it to DM's or Discord. Thank you."

What's your favourite biome?
Jungle and Mushroom biomes are my favorite biomes since any greenery used there is much more vibrant than in other biomes. However a very close second is warm oceans, because it's almost magical swimming around past all the fish, dolphins turtles and the beautiful colorful corals.

Are you willing to voice chat on Discord? Yes

Why are you applying for staff? It was recommended to me to apply and I feel a need to give back to server/community that's been very kind and helpful to me from the start.

What do you think you can bring to the team? Good interpersonal skills and an a-bun-dance of puns, creativity, and personality

Technical questions:

A user is having issues claiming their base. How do you explain the claim method? If they fail to understand your explanation, what resources can you direct them to?

Advise the user to first select a Golden Shovel. Once selected, they can type /claim # to specify the number of claim blocks that they would like to use in all directions or that they can right click on a block they're facing and travel diagonally until they have reached the amount of land they would like to claim and right click another block to close the claim. If the user fails to understand any portion of my explanation, they can be referred to the forum section for Server Commands, the "How to Claim" book that's received on first arriving to the server, or the link in the "How to Claim Land" book (also received on first arriving to the server). They could also be directed to other users or the Discord for further assistance.

You find a user x-raying and, after recording sufficient proof, go to confront the user. They swear up and down that they're not x-raying and beg you not to ban them. How do you handle the situation?
I would advise the user that the ban was not issued lightly, and if they would like to appeal the ban, they can do so in the Forums where the ban can be reviewed by a member of staff.

A staff member is arguing with a user - not enforcing rules, just a personal squabble. What do you do?
I would privately message the staff member and advise them that their behavior is not appropriate for the general channel and that it should possibly be ceased or moved to private chat

Someone wants to know what ranks we have on the server. What command can you tell them?
Users can use /ranklist to view what ranks are available, and can click on each one to view what the goals are to reach them and the benefits

Two users are arguing and getting heated about it, but haven't broken any rules. It's been over 20 minutes and they're still going at it, but still no rules have been broken. Many others in the chat have a problem with their arguing. How do you quiet the conflict?
If I was not able to quiet the conflict within the global chat, I would attempt to message each of the arguers and attempt to have them bring their argument to a /l if they are within 1000 blocks of each other, or take it to messages themselves or perhaps suggesting that they log off and allow things to cool down.

What's your favourite biome?
Mesa and/or Mountains

Are you willing to voice chat on Discord? Of Course

Why are you applying for staff? I think in the short time i've been on the server, I've made a great fit in with the community of players i've met. I would like to help make the server fun and safe for players.

What do you think you can bring to the team? I love building and I would be more than happy to bring those skills to the server for whatever the needs may be.

Technical questions:
I would explain to said player they need to be holding the gold shovel that they received when they joined the server. Next I would tell them to right click one block then the other block in the section of land they desired to claim.

I would ask them to tell me honest truth. If they fail to provide proof, I would execute the procedure. But if they tell the truth about using x-ray, They would receive a lighter sentence.

If a STAFF member is fighting with a player of the sever, i would pm the said staff member and tell him/her they need to calm down and take 5. As a staff member it would our job to make the server a fun and friendly place. Then I would proceed to ask what happened, I would take in both sides of stories then send it into the owners.

I would tell said player there is the /ranks command and they can also visit our website at https://www.paper-craft.org/index.php to view earned ranks and ranks you can purchase with real money.

If two users are arguing, I would ask them to please stop, Then I would msg one at a time, take in both sides of the story. But if no rules have been broken, I would ask both players to not keep fighting or there would be action taken, I would start with 3 warnings, After and if player ignores all warnings, I would temp mute for 5 minutes, if they where to continue after the 5 minute mute, i would do 10 minute mute than a 15 minute mute. If failed to cooperate I would inform a higher staff member.

And my favourite biome would have to be plains because you can transform them in so many ways. For example you could turn them into a costumed terraformed mountain range.

A user is having issues claiming their base. How do you explain the claim method? If they fail to understand your explanation, what resources can you direct them to?

You find a user x-raying and, after recording sufficient proof, go to confront the user. They swear up and down that they're not x-raying and beg you not to ban them. How do you handle the situation?

General play schedule (in your timezone): - Generally anytime from noon to 2 AM, though changes depending on my work and soon class schedules.

How old are players expected to be? - Players are expected to be 16+.

Are you willing to voice chat on Discord? - Always when online.

Why are you applying for staff? - I'd like to contribute more to the server as a whole and help newer players.

What do you think you can bring to the team? - I consider myself to be pretty good in regards to handling issues with people and I am pretty flexible in terms of what is needed. I am also learning coding and may be able to assist in the technical side once I gain a bit more experience.

Technical questions:

A user is having issues claiming their base. How do you explain the claim method? If they fail to understand your explanation, what resources can you direct them to?
- I would tell them the basics, how golden shovels worked and the fact that a claim is automatically created with your first chest (which could overlap the new one) along with the basic claim delete commands and /trust commands. If they need additional help I would give them a copy of the "How to Claim Land" book they were given.

You find a user x-raying and, after recording sufficient proof, go to confront the user. They swear up and down that they're not x-raying and beg you not to ban them. How do you handle the situation? - If there is no doubt that they are x-raying, then I would let them have a chance to confess as to it, then punish them accordingly. I would also inform a senior staff member unless that isn't standard.

A staff member is arguing with a user - not enforcing rules, just a personal squabble. What do you do? - In this case I would do my best to calm each party in reasonable ways such as messaging or recommending they stop talking to cool off for a bit.

Someone wants to know what ranks we have on the server. What command can you tell them? - I would tell them to do /ranks to see free ranks, /rankup to see the next free rank's requirements, and /buy to view paid ranks.

Two users are arguing and getting heated about it, but haven't broken any rules. It's been over 20 minutes and they're still going at it, but still no rules have been broken. Many others in the chat have a problem with their arguing. How do you quiet the conflict? - I would tell them that they have to move it to either messaging or another private messaging method, with the reason being that they are unfairly disturbing others or even pulling other parties in.

What's your favourite biome? - Dark Oak Forest in terms of generation, though for building I enjoy snowy biomes or Savannas.

Why are you applying for staff? To help the server grow by offering help to new and experienced players on the server.

What do you think you can bring to the team? A positive presence when logged on to where players can feel like they can approach with any questions they may have

Technical questions:

A user is having issues claiming their base. How do you explain the claim method? If they fail to understand your explination, what resources can you direct them to? I would tell them to hold the gold claim shovel in their hand and right click on one corner, and run to the opposite side and right click again to create a claim. If this does not work they can also hold the gold shovel and do /claim which will create a basic, small claim.

You find a user x-raying and, after recording sufficient proof, go to confront the user. They swear up and down that they're not x-raying and beg you not to ban them. How do you handle the situation? Approach other moderators and server staff to discuss what should be the necessary action taken.

A staff member is arguing with a user - not enforcing rules, just a personal squabble. What do you do?
I would message them and tell them that they need to take their conversation to either local or to a whisper so it is not flooding the global chat with their argument.

Someone wants to know what ranks we have on the server. What command can you tell them?
/ranks to see what ranks there are, and /rankup for how to achieve them.

Same as the situation about a staff member arguing with a user- I would tell them that they need to take it to either local chat or whisper so other players do not get annoyed with their argument.

Holding the gold shovel type /claim. This will give a 10x10 base area. You can expand it by typing /expandclaim

You find a user x-raying and, after recording sufficient proof, go to confront the user. They swear up and down that they're not x-raying and beg you not to ban them. How do you handle the situation?
Contact other staff members about the user and show them the recordings, and go from there.

A staff member is arguing with a user - not enforcing rules, just a personal squabble. What do you do?
DM both users and tell them to knock it off, and to continue the disagreement elsewhere.

How old are players expected to be?
16+ or at least convincing enough to appear that way

Are you willing to voice chat on Discord?
Sure!

Why are you applying for staff?
I like helping people first and foremost. I didn't have someone help when i first started many years ago and i enjoy the game / server that id like to see it thrive. From that, positive experiences go along way and if i can help create those, id like to. Stemming from that, there may be some that are trying to tear down the community and give negative experiences and that isnt very cool/fun. So being able to do something about that would be nice as well.

What do you think you can bring to the team?
Another set of both analytical eyes and a warm welcome! Ive been working in IT for about 8 years now, most of that doing frontline support and in that learning customer experience was very necessary. Being able to calmly tell someone something they don't want to hear and or explaining things clearly and concisely was as important as completing the job.

Technical questions:

A user is having issues claiming their base. How do you explain the claim method? If they fail to understand your explanation, what resources can you direct them to?
You can use a stick to determine if the blocks are already claimed. Then using the golden claim shovel, click two blocks to claim everything between them. The resulting claim will either be a rectangle or square. If that was misunderstood, i would then be willing to demonstrate how its done. I would also direct them to the book you get and if needed a video on how its done.

You find a user x-raying and, after recording sufficient proof, go to confront the user. They swear up and down that they're not x-raying and beg you not to ban them. How do you handle the situation?
If i confront someone who has been x-raying with sufficient proof, I would still carry out the ban as is stated in the rules. Before hand i would say that if they believe it was in error, they can submit a ban appeal and give them the link to it. They will have their chance to argue their side and i will then be able to showcase my proof. I do believe in second chances but if they are denying their actions, then there is no room for leniency

A staff member is arguing with a user - not enforcing rules, just a personal squabble. What do you do?
If it is somewhere public such as in /g or in discord, i would /msg the staff and let them know that its nor appropriate to be on display like that and should be taken "offline" either by using PM's or /msg the user directly.

Someone wants to know what ranks we have on the server. What command can you tell them?
/ranks will give you a brief overview of the ranks available and rewards that come with it. More info can be found by following the link in /ranks.
There are also separate paid ranks which can be found on the papercraft store site.

Two users are arguing and getting heated about it, but haven't broken any rules. It's been over 20 minutes and they're still going at it, but still no rules have been broken. Many others in the chat have a problem with their arguing. How do you quiet the conflict?
I would contact them both directly and ask that they stop or take their conversation to a /msg and by using /msg [name] can be used to open a private chat where all messages will go to. If the refuse to either, i would warn them that above all is player experience and creating a toxic environment is unacceptable. I would try to assist to resolve their issue if its in my power however if someone needs to be muted then so be it.

General play schedule (in your timezone): Weekdays anywhere from 2:00 p.m. - 7 p.m. and Weekends 9 am - 5 pm.

How old are players expected to be? 16 years old or older.

Are you willing to voice chat on Discord? Yes.

Why are you applying for staff?
I have been playing for almost a year now, I believe I have learned enough to help others for the most part. If I can't answer a question, I am sure I can get help from a staff member and then relay the information to the player.

What do you think you can bring to the team?
Real-life always comes first, and sometimes it can put a damper on the best of intentions trying to be in-game. I would hope I could be on consistently enough to fill in if someone needed help while senior staff or other staff are not able to be there to help.

Technical questions:

A user is having issues claiming their base. How do you explain the claim method? If they fail to understand your explanation, what resources can you direct them to?
Right-click a block to set the corner of your land claim. Right-click a second block to set a Land Claim. Expand or Resize a Land Claim: Claims can be made larger and smaller by selecting and then moving a corner. With a Golden Axe, Select the corner of your claim by right-clicking it twice (at least once). I could always as a second example be hands-on and show them by using a stick so they can see when they tap the ground and watch.

You find a user x-raying and, after recording sufficient proof, go to confront the user. They swear up and down that they're not x-raying and beg you not to ban them. How do you handle the situation?
X-raying is a bannable offense, I would have sufficient proof by recording that offense and ban them. If they have an issue with it they can always file a grievance and have it reviewed by senior staff.

A staff member is arguing with a user - not enforcing rules, just a personal squabble. What do you do?
Personal squabbles need to be in pvt msg between the staff person and the user. I would suggest for it to be taken to a pvt msg.

Someone wants to know what ranks we have on the server. What command can you tell them? /ranks

Two users are arguing and getting heated about it, but haven't broken any rules. It's been over 20 minutes and they're still going at it, but still, no rules have been broken. Many others in the chat have a problem with their arguing. How do you quiet the conflict?
I would ask them to either take their discussion to a local chat /local if they are in the same area or ask them to pvt msg to finish their heated debate by using /msg and then /r to continue the conversion.

What's your favorite biome? I have 2 that are pretty closely tied for my favorite. 1) Beach 2) River.

Thank you for your consideration.
